Had a lovely morning. Woke at about 5:30, was out in the front yard with the Sparkle by 6:30 doing a little weeding and a little wandering. Had breakfast and didn't feel awful. Baby boy had a nice morning nap. We went to the farmers' market at our usual late hour and brought home armloads of glorious green vegetables.

That baby had better come be cute, quick. Just got in from mowing the back "lawn." Discovered that everything I planted out back during my last gasp of gardening before babycare and weird weather took over has died. I'm sad. I'm not as upset about the labor lost as about the money wasted when we've had so little to spare for such things ( Read more... )

I hate "our" "hedge." These days it mostly serves as scaffolding for annoying vines and a hiding place for tree seedlings. The only cool thing it does is shelter praying mantis egg cases. The only reason I bother with it is because it encroaches upon my garden ( Read more... )

I'm daydreaming deliriously over new garden plans now that we've had a warm week. This spring has been awfully compressed, bloom-wise. Bloom times are overlapping, or almost overlapping, in a really delightful way. I'm so delighted with what has popped up I just can't help scheming about improvements. Gardening is like that.
